What is WhatPond?

This is a business that evolved from our own experiences in building our own pond to learning how to manage the pond. I even wrote the book “How to Build a Successful Farm Pond” after seeing all the mistakes made over and over again in not planning your new pond and it is way more than just digging a hole and hope it holds water.

After the pond has been alive for a couple years the water was as green as the grass and I needed to do something to bring back the water quality but didn’t want to do the “here try this or here try that” so off to the manufacturers and experts to cure the pond right the first time and not experiment too much.

Once we worked with the different products available we finally found three key ingredients and now have our own brand of dye and pond cleaners for ponds starting at 1,000 gallons to an acre. And design aeration system suited for your pond needs. Plus other tool and resources found on the WhatPond website.

We even built two more pond for research and different managing methods and has been an awesome experience with all the new wildlife that live in and around the ponds and keeping them in shape for continued enjoyment for us and them to live at the pond with no worries of a fish kill due to proper aeration.

Each year we try new aquatic plants, but does take time for them to grow to achieve the desired results and fun to see each year how the plants interact with nature and the pond. The tricky part is to manage these plants so they do not get out of control and become the typical phrase “my pond is full of weeds, help!”
